Picnic shelters at Chinkapin Bluffs and Virginia Grove can be reserved online. If shelters are NOT reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge.
Reservations are taken through MyCountyParks.com.
The Iowa County Conservation System uses this site for reservations state-wide. The reservation process is simple and allows you to pay with a credit card. Create an account for easy checkout in the future or you can checkout as a guest.
- If you plan to have beer or wine, a $50 Special Use Permit is required. This can be selected during checkout.
Proof of insurance is required along with the Special Use Permit (starting July 1, 2017) showing a minimum of $100,000 liability insurance. This is included in most homeowner or renter insurance policies. You'll provide a copy of that policy showing the required coverage. You will receive emailed instructions after your reservation is complete.
- Refunds will not be given for cancellations. If a cancellation must be made in case of severe weather, a “rain check" may be issued. The rain check must be used within twelve months of the issue date.
The shelter at Virginia Grove Recreation Area is a great place to meet with family and friends. A wonderful playground is right next to the shelter and there is plenty of open space for the kids to run within sight.
