History

Louisa County is rich in history and culture. Visit the Toolesboro Mounds National Historick Landmark to view some of the best preserved and accessible remnants of Iowa's Hopewell Culture, a middle woodland people who hunted, gathered and gardened. If it is history you enjoy, save a minute to explore the Littleton Brothers Memorial that sits adjacent to Toolesboro. One should also visit the 1914 Convict-Built Concrete Road that leads to the River Forks Landing near Columbus Junction.

Although not managed by LCC, Louisa County also boasts the "Lovers Leap" Swinging Bridge, The Rural Free Delivery Museum, Laura Rock Art Gallery, two heritage museums and so much more. Find more information about these historic sites and museums at www.NaturallyLouisaCounty.com.
