Boating is a popular activity in Louisa County. Boaters can choose to explore the Cedar, Iowa and Mississippi Rivers or the Odessa Wildlife Management Area. Please note that the access points listed on this website are only those managed by Louisa County Conservation. The Iowa DNR, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers also maintain access to our public waterways.
To learn more about the Iowa River, visit the Iowa River Water Trail to see all access points and other helpful trip planning information. Louisa County boasts the last mile of the Cedar before its convergence with the Iowa just north of the HWY 92 bridge at Columbus Junction. It can be easily accessed by the River Forks or Todd Town landings.
See the Odessa Water Trail for access points and other important information about Odessa. Note: Snively Access is a canoe/kayak/paddleboard access only. Motor boats must use Schafer's, Sand Run or Burris Ditch but can motor up to the shore.
