August Hunter Education Class

Thursday, August 16 & Saturday, August 18

This two day course will consist of classroom lessons as well gun handling and archery. The first session of class will meet at the American Legion Hall Post 100 in Columbus Junction on Thursday, August 16 from 6 - 9pm. The second session will meet at Langwood Education Center on Saturday, August 18 from 8am- 4:00pm. Students must be 11 years or older to take the class.

 

Hunter Education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to the many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.The course will consist of classroom lessons as well as live fire and shooting demonstrations. You must attend BOTH dates to receive a certificate. Bring your own lunch for Saturday.
