Reptiles & Research

Saturday, June 15; 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Join us at Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters for a program about reptiles! Sit back and enjoy a presentation from local researcher, Don Becker, while meeting some live reptiles.

Becker will be talking about native Louisa County reptiles and discussing some of his studies. He has spent may years reseaching reptiles in Iowa and is eager to share his passion with participants. Becker is also the Director of Technology for and developer of HerpMapper, an online program designed to let people around the world learn more about reptiles and amphibians. During the program he will discuss the fascinating adaptations these animals have and talk about their importance to local ecosystems.

This program is free and all ages are welcome to attend. However, children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration is required. After the presentation participants are encouraged to go on a self-guided hike at Port Louisa Refuge to see if they can find any local herps (amphibians & reptiles).
