Cairo Woods Wildlife Area

Cairo (pronounced "care-oh") is a favorite with locals for berry-picking, mushrooming, hiking, horseback riding and all kinds of hunting. Local cross-country teams use the trails for practice runs.

Size: 525 acres

Habitat: forest, grass, prairie, cropland, brush

Amenities: Parking lot

Activities: hunting, nature study, berry picking, mushrooming, bird watching, hiking, fishing (two small walk-in ponds), horseback riding

Hunting: major - deer, turkey, squirrel, minor - rabbit, pheasant

Trails: mowed work roads are also used as trails throughout area; horses allowed on trails May 21-Sept 15
